Reading this text invites me to see humans as late arrivals in a very long story, shaped and supported by a rare period of Earth’s stability. Our lives, cultures, and technologies grew within conditions that were not created by us, but generously held us for thousands of years. This brings a sense of humility and gratitude rather than control.
At the same time, learning about the Anthropocene gently shifts my perception of humans as participants whose actions now leave lasting marks on the planet. This understanding comes not from judgement, but from noticing how closely our wellbeing is tied to the wellbeing of Earth. It makes me feel that our role is less about domination and more about learning how to belong, care, and respond wisely within the living systems we depend on.
