Section outline

    • In the second section of the course, we will focus specifically on understanding the functioning of systems from the perspective of sustainability transition.

The section answers questions such as:

      • Which perspectives are useful for understanding the transition of systems?
      • How do different perspectives diagnose the root causes of and solutions to unsustainability?
      • Why do systems resist change, why and when do they break down and change?
      • How can we try to steer systems in the desired direction of change?

The section consists of different tabs, each presenting a sub-theme. The main focus is on the so-called MLP approach (presented in section 2.3), which has gained particular prominence in research on the sustainability transition of production and consumption systems.

At the end of the section, you will be able to test your competence.

    • Test your competence 2

Finally, after studying this second section you can test your competence with the exam. The exam is below.
