For me, it doesn’t feel like an either–or. Increasing non-fossil energy is essential, but if we don’t also reduce how much energy we use, we risk repeating the same patterns with new technologies. Cutting unnecessary consumption, improving efficiency, and rethinking what we actually need feels like the first step, while renewables then support a system that’s lighter and fairer overall. Otherwise, even clean energy can end up feeding endless growth instead of real well-being — for people and for the planet.
