In the fourth and final section of the course, we focus on the actors and agency in the sustainability transition.
A sustainability transition will not happen unless it is actively built. Pathways and routes are only created by walking.
The section answers questions such as:
Who are the key players in the sustainability transition?
Who has the responsibility to change systems and why?
What role do individuals play in the sustainability transition?
What is power and is it possible to do anything without having it?
How does the planetary well-being perspective challenge us to update our thinking on sustainability?
How can we build pathways towards goals that seem very difficult and distant?
The section consists of different tabs, each presenting a sub-theme. In addition to thinking and research on the future, this section will look at two systems that are very important for the sustainability transition: the energy system and the food system. We present keys and concrete pathways to the sustainability of these sectors as well as the problems that still need to be solved on these sectors. The energy transition and the food transition are the most fundamental challenges that need to be addressed in the pursuit of planetary well-being.
At the end of the section, you will be able to test your competence.
Finally, after studying this fourth section you can test your competence with the exam. The exam is below.
