The first section of the course introduces the basic idea and the fundamental importance of sustainability transition.
The first section answers questions such as:
What is meant by the concept of sustainability transition?
What kinds of things need to change so that the trajectories of human societies can be viewed as leading towards planetary well-being?
How can sustainability be measured and what do the indicators tell us about the scale of change?
Can transition be managed?
The section on indicators and variables is also a review on familiar content from previous planetary well-being courses, to help you recall things, especially if a lot of time has passed since your previous planetary well-being studies.
At the end of the section, you will be able to test your competence.
Finally, after studying this first section you can test your competence with the exam. The exam is below.
